Quote of the day

"… to compare Le Corbusier to Mussolini is a gross and unjust slur — on Mussolini."

Speer, on the other hand, might have been flattered by the comparison with Le Corbusier if not the consequences.

The picture looks like dozens of London Court Houses built in series with Weldon Libraries at the front.

With regards to brutalist architecture, London sure knows how build concrete commie blocks.

If you don't impose brutal architecture on the people so they have to look at your power and feel it and smell it 24 hours a day, then how else will you make them fear you?

P.S. I remember a certain Jean Poutine who was vastly intrigued by the idea of knocking down about 10 blocks' worth of historical architecture to build a grand ceremonial boulevard up in Ottawa way. Coline de bines le petit caporal était toujours plein d'idées!
