The poverty-industrial complex

Stéphane Dion declared a "War on Poverty" Friday as part of a bold strategy to find out whether or not there's actually any constituents still left out there for the idea. Dion's War on Poverty should not be confused with the War To End All Wars on Poverty, because nobody would want that…

Poverty is passe. A dead issue for the left to bring up, where it is imperative for them to have people die enmasse, to save the planet for their chosen ones..

The left are nuts. Do they not understand that people are not voting for them because they know the left want to shut down any sort of job, the head glowtards deem an enemy of the earth.

Nature before people is what they have been beating the drums about with that koyota accord.

Nobody minds, recycling and throwing a few fruits in the compost, but if you start telling them you are going to monitor their every fucking move to keep track if they are carbon emission sinners, they are going to tell you to fuck off, in a big way.

...oh, and the fact that the left are terroist supporters. That doesn't set well with Canadians that have no use for traitors to their country.

So the Liberals are gunna launch a War on Poverty? Basically it's the same redundant promises they made in the 1993 Red Book. They promised they would eliminate poverty by the year 2000. So like all the other promises they made it failed miserably.

Besides, the levels of people living in poverty in this country have fallen of the past decade. How this is such a pressing issue that the Liberals think will get them back into power? This is simply pure Liberal rhetoric at its finest.

What left wingers don't understand is that poverty cannot be reduced by social programs nor can it be eliminated outright. Simply giving billions to the poor doesn't solve the problem. It just leads to inflation in the economy as more Gov't money is spent. Prices and wages subsequently rise, unemployment tends to follow, and little change is made in the real incomes of the poor. I think that actually makes the poor worse off than before.

You can't eliminate poverty because some people are nitwits!
If you put 50k in everyones bank account and gave them all jobs paying 50k/yr and the same size house and took all the money to do it from the rich, in 1 year many would again be destitute because they don't want to go to work, or because of their crack habit, etc. The people who build wealth now if you take all their money and give it to the poor, they will not be as much inclined to pull us out of the caves in the future.

Thus it increases poverty then after decades of eliminating poverty you can have everyone as rich as the Russians.

See the previous thread "A tribute to Communism" to see how that turned out.

Did you see the Freeps editorial cartoon the other day. It was about this issue - it depicted Dion with all the same broken promises to end poverty in a box labelled "Recycled Election Promises"

Do you suppose Hume is on crack? He has this out of the world approach to hole issues.

http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/CityandRegion/2007/11/12/4649342-sun.html

Hume said council's committee of the whole will likely ask staff for a business plan for a performing arts centre. That would be ready early to the middle of next year, Hume said. -lfp

*******************

The way I see it, someone better delegate a hole committee to look after the hole.
*************************
He dismissed suggestions that the sinkhole in downtown London that triggered a major power failure in the core would erode support for the centre, which has been proposed for decades.

"Most people understand that a community is made up of many things, a budget is made up of many parts. We put a lot of millions of dollars into roads and sewers and we should."

But it wouldn't make sense to take money from other areas, such as libraries, and focus exclusively on roads, he said.

"That would be ludicrous." -Gordo Hume
***********************

Gordo, let me be the first to break it to you. You are either very brave, or very stupid. I think the latter applies, but no doubt that will be the take on it by many others.

I don't care if you were in a drug-induced nivarna state when you did that interview, you better sober up and quick like.

The citizens of London, especially the businesses surrounding the infamous hole, will rip your lungs out, and feed them to their cats for fluffing off the hole, or suggesting wasting money on something the majority feel is a great big waste of taxpayer money.

Are you saying the Mr. Business Man is a socialist wanna commie?

Maybe the RCMP and CSIS should lock up all commies.

I just love the hate here! It's bracing and so breathtaking in its sheer stupidity.

Eng;

Thanks for your bracing and breathtaking comments here. You have really added to the conversation thread.

eng said...

Are you kidding, look at the preceding bullshit!

Could you point out any bit of sentience in the early comments here? Because I do not see any.

Mike said...

Lisa, don't take accusations of "hate" seriously. Everything and nothing is hate.

Like "racism", "homophobia", and "wolf" it has become a sectarian term of generic, nonspecific disapproval of a stimulus. That eng doesn't bother to point to anything specific to substantiate the firings across those particular synapses should illustrate the unfortunate nullity of the concept "hate".

The word "hate" no longer has a meaning, at least not for those lacking the requisite thought-templates.

But fear not; in time, Fenris will restore the full meanings of all of these words.

Toldja. "War on XXXX" is the number one way to expand government. Righties are as bad as lefties in this regard. The only difference between them is the relative priority with which the various arbitrarily-selected "Bad Tings" need to be stamped out by the heavy boots of government. Righties think that Islamic nutters and mary-jane are the biggest scourges on earth and use them as an excuse to expand government and line their own pockets. Lefties think that lack of unionized daycare and insufficiently cheap college education are the font of all evil, for exactly the same reasons - because they found that fearmongering and hokum peddling beat working, by a long shot.

Try freedom instead someday. Your children will thank you.

Lisa said...

Eng;

Could you elaborate on how your last two comments are any more sentient than the preceding comments in two hundred words or less?

Elaine said...

psssssst.... hey annoy, if you haven't noticied, no one here tends to be overly fond of any member of council.

....we just sort of call them as we see them.

Unlike you, who wouldn't care if a membah' of the socialist cabal, turned cannibal and demanded harper hiney in the city hall free grub club.

You'd still love em'. That is what happens when you follow blind ideology.

Nothing makes me cry as much as the sight of a starving Canadian child, one in the grip of famine, its belly swollen with free school breakfast. The diseases of diabetes and obesity are raving our starving xillions. Eng is correct to call for more taxation upon himself so more Eng-Canadians can go to sleep feeling less guilty.

We could call them all "commie bastards" to their faces and then they would know we were members of the master race.

They would grovel like dogs and then we could be the ones in charge.

Butch, don't be projecting your horny fantasies on me. You wouldn't last a round.

Save your horniness for your socialist cabal. They are more your type, delicate flowers, who need a heap of saving.

So if you give a liberal more taxes they will use it to eliminate poverty? Talk about lacking sentience.

arg,

How can people whose goals in life are to sit on their ass and have others pay their way through life ever be anything but poor?

12 years ago the most I had ever earned was 12,000/yr now people think I'm wealthy, it wasn't some lame tax increase that got me on my feet and past the hiring quotas.

I never made such a claim. You are trying to avoid the question. I repeat it:

"Could you point out any bit of sentience in the early comments here? Because I do not see any."

Elaine said...

eng, I don't think anyone cares if you see any sentience or not.

eng, do you just comb the dictionary everyday to find a word you think might make you look smart? keep combing buddy.

Here is some sentience for you, "bite me glowtard".

Speak for yourself. You don't appear care about anything beyond the end of your nose.

Your scintillating brilliance again leaves me completely unimpressed.

Continue with the petty insults.

Sentience means either to be self-aware (conscious of one's being) or a feeling separate from perception, or a sensory notion.

I hope there is no sentience in this blog. That would be creepy.

I stand corrected. My question is changed to ask "Can you show any sapience in the early comments in this thread?"

eng, this ain't the Oprah show. We are not here to make you feel good about your stupid opinions.

I feel good whenever you fail to make any kind of intelligent or even intelligible response to my opinions. So I feel good every time I'm here.

If you insist on being the punch down clown, then expect to be punched down.

Typical projection. I am not being punched down. I am not a punch down clown. I am not beating my wife either. Sheesh. Try a little harder, will you?

Barry, aka(lucky squirrel) just come in under your own name. Shake off that socialist sneaky facade and be a man.

Who is Barry?

Barry, you know how everyone has a carbon footprint, well they also have an internet footprint.

Except me.

Everybody and their dog has a can of proxy-away spray in their back pockets nowadays.

eng, can you see any sapience in the hurdy-gurdy man video?

Did you even watch it? Do you have any idea how thin the line is between socialism and fascism?

The wisdom I see in that video, is never, ever, be stupid enough to put a socialist government in power.

eng said...

eng, can you see any sapience in the hurdy-gurdy man video?

Trying to change the channel, eh? Nice touch using a video to do it.

Did you even watch it?

Yes.

Do you have any idea how thin the line is between socialism and fascism?

It was called the front line in WWII, when the fascists were fighting the communists. Communists, not socialists.

The wisdom I see in that video, is never, ever, be stupid enough to put a socialist government in power.

The wisdom I see is never allow totalitarian dictatorships to run countries.

Whatever words they spout from right wing ideology or left wing ideology is unimportant. It's just making excuses, trying to get idealistic people to give them unlimited power.

Totalitarian dictators all find excuses to do what they do. It's always some book they use, whether it be the Bible, the Communist Manifesto, or Mein Kampf. What book they use doesn't matter, and the actual value of the book doesn't matter (for example, I think the Bible is the most valuable of books). It just has to be a book with enough pages and words that totalitarian dictators will always find ways to rationalize their actions.

Elaine said...

That made sense. Odd it came from you.
