Double broadcasting standards

The CBC may be the country's single biggest thumper for the sort of progressive causes that bring embargoes down on everyone else's heads, but employees at its Toronto headquarters can smoke inside in "two smoking lounges outfitted with plush sofas and ashtrays" …and it's legal!

A spokesperson for the CBC told Global News the smoking rooms have existed for years, and it would be too expensive to decommission them now.

"...it would be too expensive to decommission them now."

The compliance costs borne by private businesses were not an issue when anti-smoking laws were enacted.

How much does a "No Smoking" sign costs these days?
