It pays to be the trustee of other people's money

Jesus Allah! The Public could have been paying for the groceries of the London Fog collective, if only Mike and I had followed through with our plan to run for school board trustee. We now rely on your charitable donations, or barring that, "free" meals paid for via the public welfare system. Another option is to rob Loblaws. It is not our fault. We are victims of the public education system:

Thames Valley District school board trustees voted for a wage increase of more than 300 per cent for the board that takes over Dec. 1.

The increase is the maximum allowed under new provincial rules and was agreed to unanimously last night. The pay for trustees will increase Dec. 1 from $5,000 to $17,000, while the board chairperson will receive $25,816 and the vice-chairperson, $21,412.

There is additional pay for attending some meetings.

Current trustees also will receive an increase in their pay retroactive to Sept. 1, 2005. All of the increases were recommended by a six-member citizens committee that met twice to review the board's pay.

So what do they actually do, besides sit around and try to decide what literature will meet their socialist agenda the best?
