Making Unspecified Differences, Apparently Just For The Sake Of It

Confronted with cliches about people "making a difference", Billy Beck "moves the discussion forward":

Nobody details exactly what sort of a "difference" they intend to "make", nor from what, exactly. (Let me only point out that Adolf Hitler "made a difference", too.) This is aspiration without direction: a cheap pretense to goals, insititutionalized now in the mere noise that flourishes where authentic language once stood.

I wasn't making an argument.

I was either "raising awareness" or "demonizing", depending on yr. persuasion.
