Taking Pride in Hatred

Londoners who enjoy protests and parades were in for a special treat today. In celebration of the annual gay pride parade here in London, members of the Northern Alliance and Anti-Racist Action group (ARA) came out to mingle. Another group flying a Confederate flag - some of whom were wearing Banditos, Alabama, support wear - also showed up to express solidarity with their 'Northern brothers'. Mike and his beloved J, Basil and myself bravely arrived at the designated gathering spot in front of St Peter's Basilica to witness and document the events. The clash did not turn into a riot, as the protesters were outnumbered by armed police.

The Northern Alliance and hordes of police officers, including the emergency response unit, were the first to arrive at the corner of Dufferin and Richmond, although they were soon joined by a slightly larger group of ARA members, chanting "We're here, we're queer, we're not going away":

Eventually, the Northern Alliance protesters crossed the street to join the confederates, but the rage continued. "No free speech for fascists" shouted one communist flag flying ARA supporter.

Members of the Northern Alliance proceeded to shout back at the "vermon" and "parasites":

And then the sexfest parade began and the protesters moved to the front lines.

I highly recommend such events - great fun for the whole family! Don't forget your armband.

Ah, diversity in London . . .

I was hoping to catch some outrageous displays of lascivious lesbian love but was sadly disappointed. London's just so conservative, even the pride parade is uptight.

Communism is alive and well on the campus of the UWO and in the Dept. of Sociology where the crypto-communist professors call themselves "social environmentalists".

The new communists weapons against capitalism - SSM, abortion and drugs.

As long as the professors get to retain their Volvos and north London homes, they're more than happy to preach the end of capitalism to the plebians.

As for communists and drugs - I rejected the Young Socialists in the late 80's when I discovered they were officially anti-drug. How could anyone be that fucked up and not be on drugs? Since then even William F. Buckley has reversed his formerly insane stance on the drug war.

"We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions." --Adolf Hitler

(Speech of May 1, 1927. Quoted by Toland, 1976, p. 306)
